In terms of the impulse response, this means optimisation of the direct wave and very early reflections. Generally, at higher frequencies there is less consistent time-domain behavior. Dirac Live room correction automatically finds consistent problems in a frequency-dependent way and corrects for them. After addressing consistent time-domain behavior, there may still be some late reverberation in the room that causes subtle colouration. Dirac Live corrects these in the frequency domain to achieve just the right resolution.

Filter design: The user then adjusts and sets the desired frequency response using the breakpoints and target curve feature. However, the user doesn't have to do anything with impulse response correction, because that is carried out automatically. The software can show the measurements before and after the application of the filter, either for each individual speaker and subwoofer or all together as a system.

Why is it that the same frequency response can sound so different from room to room? The answer lies to a large extent in the time-domain aspects of the measured frequency response, as well as critical differences in the spatial (angular) domain. By addressing time-domain problems as such, and not as minimum-phase spectral problems, frequency response correction becomes more effective. After conducting time-domain correction, Dirac Live treats the spectral colourations in a room. By paying particular attention to the variations across different measurement positions – not just the average – Dirac Live makes sure not to overcompensate.

A loudspeaker’s impulse response affects clarity, detail and all spatial aspects of the sound. Dirac Live corrects the impulse response throughout the listening area, not just at a single point. By focusing on consistent problems across the measurement positions and correcting only these anomalies, Dirac Live can achieve a faster decay time. Typically, the power ratio between the direct wave and the tail (later-arriving echoes) is improved by 6 dB or more, representing a vastly improved overall sound.

A flat frequency response does not necessarily sound neutral due to the ratio between direct and reverberant sound and the frequency-variable propagation loss. Dirac Live can’t remove late reflections, because they change too much between different positions. Therefore, a slight roll-off is often appropriate when listening at a distance. The Dirac Live algorithm suggests a target response appropriate for your listening environment and speakers, which you can of course adjust to your taste using the simple graphical interface.

First of all, run the FixMe.IT Expert application, start a new support session, enter the Client ID provided by the remote party, and click Connect.

After the client has approved the remote connection, select the Remote Control operation. This will provide you with full access to the client’s desktop, as well as control over the remote mouse and keyboard. If the client’s computer is eligible for the update you will see a special Windows 10 icon in the System Tray. Click on it, and then choose the Upgrade Now option. After this, Windows will check the system for required updates and install them on the remote machine.

When the system is finished with all the preparations, you will see a dialog window prompting to move forward with the upgrade. Accept the terms, and then Windows will download some additionally required files. When the system is fully ready, it will prompt you to start upgrading.

As soon as the upgrade’s started, Windows will request a reboot of the remote machine. During the reboot operation you won’t be able to see the client’s desktop, so you’ll have to wait for a bit. The cool thing is that the remote connection will be automatically restored following the reboot’s completion without requiring any manual reconnect or the client’s input.

When the reboot is finished and Windows 10 is installed on the remote machine, the remote session will automatically resume and a corresponding message will appear on your Expert interface. Run Remote Desktop Control again, and here’s the client’s freshly installed Windows 10!

Now log into Windows through the standard logon screen, click on the Use Express settings button, go through some basic app preparations, etc.

Voila, you’re now logged into the upgraded system where all existing files have been successfully restored! To provide the client with remote assistance in the future, you may setup the FixMe.IT Unattended Client and conveniently connect whenever they require support.

Once a text box has been added to your document, you may want to rotate it and thereby change its orientation. Unfortunately, Word does not allow you to rotate a text box. Instead, you must resize the text box to achieve the desired effect. You can do that by using the handles that appear on the text box when you select it, but a more precise way is by following these steps if you are using Word 2007:

Right-click on the text box. Word displays a Context menu.
Choose the Format Text Box option from the Context menu. Word displays the Format Text Box dialog box.
Make sure the Size tab is selected. (Note that the Rotation control on the Size tab is grayed out. You cannot use this control with text boxes; it is only available with AutoShapes.) (See Figure 1.)

Make note of the height and width settings for the text box.
Switch the height and width settings by typing them into the appropriate boxes on the dialog box.
Click on OK.

If you are using Word 210 or Word 2013, follow these steps instead:

Click once on the text box to select it.
Display the Format tab of the ribbon. (This tab is available if you successfully complete step 1.)
Look in the Size group at the right side of the ribbon and make note of the height and width settings for the text box.
Switch the height and width settings by typing them into the appropriate boxes in the Size group.

Notice that the rotation (resizing) of the text box does not result in the rotation of text within the text box. Instead, the text is simply reformatted to the new text box dimensions.
